Android × Droid 3 × Giants × Mobiles × Motorola
The third-iteration of what was at one time Verizon's flagship Android device is about to hit. The Droid 3 will arrive, via direct fill (order + ship) on July 7, with the phone hitting stores on July 14.
It's not really that much different than earlier Droids, with a slightly up-sized screen (4-inches vs. the 3.7-inch screen of the Droid 2 Global) with qHD (960 x 540) resolution. It will sport a 1Ghz dual-core processor, 16GB of internal storage (but no microSD card included because of that, although there is a slot), front-facing camera for video chat, 8MP rear-facing camera with 1080p video recording and LED flash, and dedicated numeric key row.
Despite the hard keyboard, the Droid 3 will also have Swype. It will also be a global device, meaning a user can, with the right plan, use it in other countries via a SIM (that will be shipped with the device, in fact).
That said, despite the fact the Droid used to be Verizon's flagship Android device, it won't have LTE capability. Also, this version will carry the latest version of Blur, unlike earlier, Blur-less Droids.
The still missing part of the equation is "how much." Price isn't known as yet, but is assumed (and is likely to be) $199.99 with a two-year contract.
In addition to the date being leaked, a copy of the Droid 3 User Guide has hit the Web. Those of you interested in a keyboarded smartphone, here's your chance to take a look at the manual before Thursday.

Giants × Google × Google+ × Social Networking
This isn’t every single thing there is to know about Google+. That could probably be a book rather than an article, and the Google+ Project has only just begun. If Google has its way, it will live on for years. Or it could go the Google Wave route. It’s just too early to tell.
Do you think Google+ will succeed? Share your thoughts in the comments.
While we’ll no doubt learn plenty more about Google+ as time goes on, here are some quick nuggets to get you a little more acquainted with it.
1. Google+ is currently available on an invitation-only basis.
2. Google does not consider it a Facebook competitor (at least publicly).
3. Google+ is currently available for download as an app in the Android Market.
4. When you download that app, it splits off the “Huddle” feature as a separate app.
5. Users can post status updates, and these appear on the Google Profile under a tab called “Posts”. The +1′s and Buzz tabs remain separate. I have to wonder if we’ll see Buzz and Posts merge eventually.
6. What is available now is “just the beginning” according to Google. These are just the first features or presumably many more to come.
7. Circles is one current feature. It lets you share things with different people (kind of like Facebook Groups) but with a very different user interface.
Watch this video:
8. Another feature is Sparks. This looks for videos and articles it thinks you’ll like, so “when you’re free, there’s always something to watch, read, and share.” Filter Bubble anyone?
9. Hangouts is another feature. It’s basically group video chat. Google describes it as “the unplanned meet-up.”
10. Instant uploads is a mobile-specific feature. Photos upload themselves as you take them, and are stored in a private area on the cloud.
11. Huddle is another group-conversation feature for mobile. Essentially, it’s group chat.
The Stream
12. The stream is basically the equivalent of the Facebook news feed.
13. When you share something with Google+ it’s added to your stream and the stream of everyone you shared with.
14. The stream shows you what all of your Circles have shared with you.
15. If you mention a user, using the “+” or “@” symbols, the person may receive a notification that you mentioned them.
16. You can see who specific posts were shared with in the stream – whether they were shared publicly, to extended circles, or a limited group.
17. You can filter the stream by specific Circles.
18. You can chat directly in the stream
19. You can report inappropriate content.
20. You can search for people from the search box at the top of the stream.
21. Soon, Google says you’ll be able to search the stream itself from the search box.
22. If you leave comments on a post, you can edit or delete them.
23. The same goes for posts, but you can’t edit a post’s sharing settings after the post has been shared. However, you can delete the post and share again to different circles.
24. You can “reshare” posts made by others (like retweeting).
25. You can “mute” a post. This will let you stop receiving updates from a post, like if the comments get out of control for example.
The Google Social Network
26. You can use the “Google+ Bar” that appears at the top of various Google products as your connection to the social network.
27. When you’re signed in you’ll see your full name or email address displayed with a photo or avatar next to it, to help you identify which account you’re currently signed in to.
28. If you’ve enabled multi sign-in you can sign in to two different Google accounts and switch between them using the Google+ bar.
29. When you sign up for Google+, you’re also signing up for Picasa Web Albums, so all photos and videos uploaded to Google+ (including from your phone via Instant Upload) will also be available in Picasa Web Albums.
30. You can use the Google +1 button from the stream.
31. You can have a ton of friends on Google+. Robert Scoble quickly added over 1,000.
32. The central user interface is very Facebook-esque.
33. Google+ quickly became the butt of a lot of jokes (and even cartoons), but has also received a great deal of praise thus far.
34. With Google+ Google adds a “You” link to the recently redesigned (painted black) navigation bar across Google properties
35. You can view public Google+ content without actually being invited (Danny Sullivan has a guide on how to view it )
36. China is already blocking Google+. That didn’t take long.
37. Invitations have been listed on eBay.
38. There are already privacy concerns about Google+ but the Privacy Guide can be found here.
39. According to the Financial Times article, you can share something within a closed “Circle,” but somone from that circle can then reshare it with anyone, and even make it public.
40.Is Google+ destined to bring real competition to Facebook or will the hype fade? Share your thoughts.

Giants × Google × Google+ × Social Networking × Tips × Tricks
Google+ is a new social network from Google and the rate at which new users are getting signed for this service is unimaginable although the sign-ups can be done only with an invitation. While going through Google+, I have found the profile of Matt Cutts, the well known Google Engineer specializing in search engine optimization issues.
While going through his profile, I have found few Google+ Tips and tricks which I would like to share to everyone of our readers.
Google+ Tips And Tricks:
- After signing into your Google+ account, You can click on profile pictures to rotate through them.
- In the stream, you can click ‘j’ to navigate down to the next item or ‘k’ to navigate up.
- If you’re sharing a post with a small circle of people, you can prevent resharing. Click the arrow at the top-right of the post and choose “Disable reshare.”
- If you’re looking for more fun things in your stream, the “Incoming” stream is stuff from people who are sharing with you, but who you haven’t added to a circle.
- There is also some basic text formatting, too with Google+. They are (*)bold(*), (_)italics(_) and (-)
strike-through(-).
Facebook × Giants × Google × Google+ × googlenew × Social Networking
Google+ is based on a radically different approach from the old Google Buzz, the automatic linking function caused a big scandal last year. With Google+ Circles, Google proposes to carefully select which of your contacts, see your profile. Unlike Facebook, which tends to confuse all your "friends" in a large bath that is very difficult to manage the new Google network allows you to organize your contacts in Google groups ("circles") that you create. When you share your personal content, you can choose exactly what circles of friends will have access. Yes, Google Circles + is very similar to the civil aspects of Diaspora and will probably avoid a few gaffes. It will also facilitate the sharing, given that we can communicate its status or content directly to a group of friends from all Google sites, using the new black toolbar that you have probably noticed.
Google+ comes with a more complete messaging system
Who uses Facebook messages? It seems not many people . If the social network was unable to repeat his success with the mail tool of its instant messaging, a competitor like Google+ could successfully do the opposite. Google offers two innovations that go in that direction.
First, allows the user to Click on a mobile, open a chat group with all your friends from the same circle. Ideally, according to Google, to organize an outing at the last minute ...
On the other hand, it will be possible to start video chats very easily : a member creates a "bubble" video chat, and friends are then free to join once the bubble is active. A principle similar to that of Tiny-chat, popular with young people. The ideal social network for mobile phones? Google + will soon be available on Android will and soon for any IOS devices. And perhaps in this way that the company is more likely to impose its new social network. The mobile version of Google + includes most functions of the Web version and adds some specific features for smart phones.
First, a location-based news feeds to receive news from friends in the vicinity. But "who,
what, when, how, where" (phew!), Which is a little Facebook house seats. This tool allows you to post your position with content.
Most innovative, Instant Upload automatically sends a private space that you make the pictures with your mobile and share them more easily later.
While Google is attractive and practical Google+, will have to avoid the empty shell syndrome that now affects Buzz. It will have to Convince regular Facebook users to share content on a new social network and switch to it, and that will not be an easy task: it is difficult to convince users to give up old habits. Oh no! Facebook flows are unlikely to be integrated into Google +! If Google + is well made and has functions for some practical and innovative services , it nevertheless remains that there is not much new in this mix of services comparing to Facebook.

Google getting re-birth on WWW with new look and feel, Google changed its all Products Look and feel, its change on ever Product of google.
Google is on a roll the weak. It took the tech world by storm with Google+, freshened up the user interface of Google Calendar and just unleashed a new design for Gmail.
Earlier this week, the Google blog promised that there would be a few tweaks coming to the Google homepage, Gmail and other Google applications.
And voila! They're kicking things off by letting you test out a brand new Gmail layout. It has Google's signature coloring all over it, and looks sneakily similar to the insides of Google+.
Text & Images from Gmail Official Blog:
We’re kicking things off with two new themes for you to try out as a sort of sneak peek at what we’re up to. Starting today, you’ll see the “Preview” and “Preview (Dense)” themes in the Themes tab in Gmail Settings. Why two themes? Our new interface will eventually expand dynamically to accommodate different screen sizes and user preferences, but until then you can pick the information density that you prefer.
Here’s what one of the new themes currently looks like:

Android Updates × Mobiles × Nokia × Symbian Anna × Symbian S60 5th Edition firmware
The Symbian S60 5th Edition firmware update is set to start rolling out for all devices in the range and along with boosting stability and overall performance you’ll find a host of features have been added.
When it comes to features you’ll find that Ovi Maps 3 SR6 will be a major addition to your Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia N97 mini or Nokia 5800. So much so, it’s the same versiona as you’ll find in the Symbian Anna update for Symbian^3 smartphones, such as the Nokia X7 and Nokia E6. This latest version is still free for life but you’ll find that public transport lines and check-in services to social networking sites have been added, so getting around and staying in touch has never been easier. Nokia Browser v7.3, the same browser that can be found on Symbian Anna, will be making an appearance as part of the firmware update. It’s a
faster, leaner browser with wider global language support, such as non-ASCII letters in Arabic as well as Chinese, and should make the whole web experience on your Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800 slide a lot smoother. It’s worth noting this rollout will be a staged event, so you’ll need to keep an eye on your smartphones Software Updater page. If you’re looking to take advantage of the firmware update then you can do so using OTA (Over the Air) services or through Nokia Ovi Suite.
To check if the update has hit:
go to Settings > Tools > Software Update.
However, the quickest way to check is to type *#0000# into the Call box and then select Options. Before carrying our any update it pays to backup your smartphone.
Apple × Bing × Entertainmen × Giants × Google × Microsoft
It is all Entertainment; all major search engines realized that more than 10% of all Internet search queries are related to entertainment. So, why not create a separate channel for entertainment and music lovers. In June, Microsoft launched a separate vertical for entertainment search queries and integrated in Bing and promoted results for Zune.
Google is also working on something similar and planning to build a music download service of its own.
Both Google and Bing provide links to stream full songs found in search results, but Bing provides additional details on lyrics and buy links. After launching this service, Google will integrate this service to its search engine and music searches on Google will link to full song streams provided by MySpace Music, as well as Twitter updates. This search giant still leads the pack with around 70% of market share for searches in US but when it comes to music, it is none other than Apple, which commands 70% of digital music download sales in the United States. This is the reason why both Microsoft and Google are trying to compete with Apple through their mobile platforms.
FLASH MEMORY × Giants × IBM
You've got to hand it to IBM's engineers. They drag themselves into work after their company's 100th birthday party, pop a few Alka-Seltzers and then promptly announce yet another seismic invention. This time it's a new kind of phase change memory (PCM) that reads and writes 100 times faster than flash, stays reliable for millions of write-cycles (as opposed to just thousands with flash), and is cheap enough to be used in anything from enterprise-level servers all the way down to mobile phones. PCM is based on a special alloy that can be nudged into different physical states, or phases, by controlled bursts of electricity. In the past, the technology suffered from the tendency of one of the states to relax and increase its electrical resistance over time, leading to read errors. Another limitation was that each alloy cell could only store a single bit of data. But IBM employees burn through problems like these on their cigarette breaks: not only is their latest variant more reliable, it can also store four data bits per cell, which means we can expect a data storage "paradigm shift" within the next five years. Combine this with Intel's promised 50Gbps interconnect, which has a similar ETA, and data will start flowing faster than booze from an open bar on the boss's tab. There's more detailed science in the PR after the break, if you have a clear head.
